Tech enthusiasts and smartphone fans in Austria found extra reasons to be cheerful in March 2019 when popular South Korean smartphone manufacturer Samsung toured the country with a roadshow promoting the launch of the latest model in its popular Galaxy range, the S10+. It spent an entire week at the Westfield Donau Zentrum, inspiring visitors to Vienna’s largest shopping mall with a stylish promotion stand, large advertising banners and interactive events. A collaboration with online video game Fortnite ensured major attractions for gaming lovers too.
Large promotions area ‘beneath the dome’
Whichever level they were on, visitors to the centre couldn’t miss the large roadshow campaign banners above the event area. These are part of the wide range of digital and analogue advertising media which brands can use in the centre to draw even more attention to their products. The centrally positioned promotion areas are also perfect for this: The 230 m² Arena Plaza directly under the huge, illuminated iconic glass dome is the beating heart of the Westfield Donau Zentrum – the perfect place to show the newest member of the Samsung Galaxy family in the best light – in every sense of the word.
The circular promotions stand had something exciting in store for everyone: an information area offering visitors advice and guidance on all the technical innovations of the powerful smartphone as well as the Galaxy Test Zone where they could see for themselves the devices in Samsung’s flagship series, and place their orders without further ado. Another themed area was dedicated entirely to a special ‘Galaxy S10+ meets Fortnite’ promotion.
Fortnite fans loved the photo challenge
With several million players across the world, the free online Battle-Royale-style survival game Fortnite is one of the most popular video games ever, and the photo area – set up specially in the Fortnite style – proved particularly popular among the younger group of the centre’s 19 million annual visitors. Everyone had the opportunity to try out the powerful, modern triple camera of the S10+ against a background wall in the game’s trademark purple colour and sporting the Fortnite logo. At the ‘Fortnite Dance Challenge’, interactive screens gave people the opportunity to take on the role of their favourite characters and imitate one of the well-known victory dances that are also popular outside the games.
But that was not all: events such as the ‘Wiñata’ competition also attracted crowds of visitors to the Arena Plaza in the centre of the mall with the prospect of top prizes. Cheered on by spectators, participants were able to hit piñata figures hanging from an arch with coloured sticks and try to break them up. The winners were delighted to receive a range of great prizes from Samsung.
