Vodafone found the perfect setting for a unique promotion at Centro Oberhausen. The telecommunications company moved to the popular Ruhr shopping centre for three days in November 2020 to present the new Samsung QLED TV “The Frame”. For this purpose, the highly frequented area in the mall’s central dome directly below the Vodafone store provided the perfect stage. In combination with an unforgettable hands-on promotion for all centre visitors and an unbeatable limited-time offer, all eyes were thus on the innovative TV.
“TV, when it’s on. Art, when it’s off.” The slogan aptly describes the unique idea behind the smart device, whose chic design is modelled on a picture frame: when the TV is switched on, it astonishes with its extraordinary variety of colours and the brilliant quality of QLED technology. And it is also a real eye-catcher when switched off. In “Art Mode” it transforms into a work of art. Whether Picasso, Monet or a high-resolution photograph – with its numerous motif options, the screen is a highlight for any room.
Extensive media campaign throughout the Centro
In the Centro, interested customers had the opportunity to get to know the life-like screen with its vivid colours and high level of detail. Anyone who signed a Vodafone contract during the campaign period received one of the coveted Samsung frames as a gift. To ensure that no shopper missed this unique opportunity, the company used the numerous attention-grabbing advertising media in the centre – first and foremost the “UDS” (Unexpected Digital Signature). The world’s only 360° LED screen in the heart of the mall bathed the entire central dome in the unmistakable Electric Red. But that was not all. To attract as many as possible of the 15 million customers who shop in Oberhausen every year to the store, there was another unusual attraction: passers-by could have their photo taken during their stroll and pick up their personal picture in the shop.
Successful cooperation between the two companies
Samsung’s cooperation with the popular contact point for technology fans in the well-visited mall proved to be a success for all parties involved. The electronics manufacturer was able to benefit from Vodafone’s large customer base. The shop enjoyed even bigger crowds than usual. And the sales staff were able to get signatures on contracts from a large range of new customers. “The Frame” now adorns many living rooms in the Ruhr area and the surrounding region.
